Leading Imagine and Wonder children's storybook author, Dr. Simon Mills (Sir Rhymesalot) has developed a visual device to aid in the reading of rhyming-verse. The lighter words that precede the sentence come before the meter begins. The darker color signifies where the emphasis should land in the flow of the rhyme. The darker text begins on beat one. The paired colors call out the rhyming couplets. The system was designed to help young readers identify both rhythm and rhyme and make the experience more intuitive. The following excerpts are from I Lost My Brave (Sir Rhymesalot), and Cello Comes Home by Simon Mills and Ross MacPhee.
